Another day of testing at Jerez with all teams except Toro Rosso and Honda on the track. Vettel topped the times with Massa close behind. We can’t read much into the testing times with teams running different strategies but it’s a good opportunity to see the new cars out on track before Australia.
Today was the first day of three and most interestingly Force India had their track debut in the rather egotistically named VJM02 (named after Indian Billionaire team boss Vijay Mallya). This team was pretty much back of grid throughout 2008 after taking over what used to be the Jordan team. For 2009 they have McLaren technology on board in the form of a Mercedes Engine and McLaren gearbox and KERS. This gives the team an opportunity for a change of fortune and actually make Force India a force to be reckoned with for the forthcoming season.
In recognition of the VJM02 launch the team have released this video where we have chance to see the car in action with brief interviews from drivers and Vijay himself. One point – just how dull is their technical director!? Have to hope there’s more flair in the car design than in his personality…
Full times from Jerez on March 1st:
- Vettel : 1:19.055 (Red Bull)
- Massa : 1:20.330 (Ferrari)
- Kobayashi : 1:20.699 (Toyota – test driver)
- Rosberg : 1:21.171 (Williams)
- Kubica : 1:21.292 (BMW)
- Fisichella : 1:21.584 (Force India)
- De la Rosa : 1:21.831 (McLaren – test driver)
- Piquet : 1:22.011 (Renault)

“The 2009 Ferrari doesn’t half look good”
Which half?
For me this is the worst looking 09 car. I can’t place my finger on why either, just looks ugly (yes, incredibly more-so than the Renault!!)
For some of us youtube and other obvious video sharing sites are blocked at work.. So it’d be nice if the videos ure adding are hosted in a site thats likely to be available to everyone or may be on ur own site.. :) just a thought..! we’d love to follow ur site.. just tat a lot of times get disappointed not being able to see something.. :)
