GREETINGS TO NICO ROSBERG
He’s another young driver at only 24yrs of age and incredibly loyal to the Williams F1 team. He tested there in 2005 and started racing for them in 2006. He is still there for 2009. After winning the first GP2 championship in 2005 Nico was rightly promoted to the motorsport pinnacle. He hasn’t held back from the start, ending up an impressive 7th in his first GP after first lap collision. His record still stands as the youngest driver to score a fastest lap, which he achieved in his race debut. Impressive.
As far as personality, Nico scores highly. He comes across as a top lad who’s just desperate to prove his worth. In recent interviews he’s been open about his admiration for Williams and explaining his preparation for the 2009 season. He’s excellent at talking about the sport and after he’s had his F1 success we wouldn’t be surprised to see Nico gracing the BBC’s F1 coverage. Think Coulthard, without the chin or as many unfortunate crashes.
He’s stated in a recent interview that he wants to win and to do it with Williams.
BRING ON 2009
Last year, Rosberg Jr stepped up onto the podium in the season opener and showed how talented he was later in the year at Monaco. Sadly the Monaco performance came to an abrupt end after a massive collision with several barriers on the tricky street circuit. The year ended on a high with his superlative performance at F1’s inaugrual night race in Singapore where he finished 2nd after the Ferrari’s failed. Apart from these, 2008 really was a year for Nico and Williams to forget.
His father, the famous Keke Rosberg won the title with Williams in 1982 and as a driver Nico could do the same. Sadly his machine hasn’t performed anything more than average over the last couple of seasons but with the dramatic rule changes for 2009 his team has been tipped to make a leap forward, far from their back-of-midfield status during most of 2008.
One thing is for sure, the 2009 Williams is up there with the Red Bull in terms of aesthetics. The Oxfordshire crew have opted for a different version of the KERS technology to the rest of field. Nico has spent the winter losing weight to compensate for the additional heft KERS brings to the car. The Badger just hopes this all pays off and brings one of F1’s great teams back to the forefront of the sport.

Looking good, just hope it goes well
Looking beyond 2009, Nico wants to stay with Williams in 2010 and to lead the team’s revival line up.
NICO ON YOUTUBE
We had to include this clip, not only as an example of Nico’s skills but also for the hilarious American commentary
Since he’s German there are some very odd videos of him on t’tube, but this one claims to use “the Nico song”

Nico, Nico, Nico, Nico, Nico, Nico, Nico, boosch barra boosch barra boosch. Catchy…
