senna
The name, it’s synonymous with Formula One, indelibly linked with the sport and forever in the minds of all who had ever seen him drive.  Though not the only tragedy to befall the sport, his was one that came to be most remembered.

Ayrton Senna died on this day 15 years ago at the San Marino Grand Prix, his legacy has been to seriously evolve the sport so that not a single driver has died since, despite far harder, faster and more spectacular crashes.

He was so fondly remembered in his death that three million mourners lined the streets of Sao Paulo to pay their respects.  It was also notable to see the FIA observing the double tragedy of San Marino by painting the first grid places in Roland and Ayrton’s national colours.

The BBC will be airing a special documentary today.  If you feel you need a reminder of everything the inimitable racer did, this would be a good place to start.

There is little else to say.
