Next weekend Jenson Button is taking part in a triathlon here in London town.  Since he’s a patron of the wonderful Make-a-Wish charity, all money raised from his athletic efforts will be going to help grant the wishes of young children with life-threatening illnesses.

To help the cause, F1 Badger is offering you the chance to get your mitts on the official 2008 Formula One annual, signed by some of the 2009 season Formula 1 drivers.  We were lucky enough to meet these drivers at Silverstone back in June, and we’ll be supporting Jenson next Saturday (August 1st) when he competes in the triathlon.

Drivers autographs on the inside cover: Fernando Alonso, Nelson Piquet, Mark Webber, Sebastien Vettel, Timo Glock, Jarno Trulli, Nico Rosberg, Kazuki Nakajima, and Sebastien Bourdais (the last one is pretty rare nowadays) – the driver postcards, individually signed by each respective driver and also Jenson Button and Sebastien Buemi will also be included.

All of the money raised from this auction will go straight to the Make-a-Wish foundation and go towards granting the wish of a child with a life-threatening illness. To quote Jenson “I have had the pleasure of meeting lots of kids who are supported by the charity at our tests and races. It’s a real privilege to be involved with them [Make A Wish]. The kids are so inspirational and hopefully we can raise enough money to fulfil as many of their dreams as possible.”

This annual is a lovely momento from one of the greatest seasons in F1 history and this is a wonderful cause too, so don’t delay – open your wallet and place your bid today!  Click here to visit Badger’s eBay auction.

Make-A-Wish is a charity with a single purpose – we grant magical wishes to children and young people aged 3-17 fighting life-threatening illnesses.

  • Since we were launched in 1986 the charity has granted 5,300 wishes.
  • Over 20,000 children in the UK are living with a life-threatening illness, a figure validated by research commissioned by Make-A-Wish Foundation UK. At a human level, we believe few things can be more important, or more deserving, than giving a seriously ill child the chance to have their wish come true, with all the hope, expectation and happiness that brings.
  • For many families the Make-A-Wish memory can be the last happy memory they have of their child having fun in a magical world, surrounded by family and friends – rather than memories of days and weeks of painful treatments and hospitalisation. The memory of the wish may be of their child laughing and enjoying being a princess or zoo keeper for the day or meeting a favourite celebrity. In years to come, the family can look back and remember that special time.
  • Make-A-Wish is expert in wishgranting; it is all that we do, each and every day.
At present we are granting around 15 wishes a week and our ambition is to grant 21 wishes every week by the end of 2010.
  • We need to raise £5 million if we are to realise this aim .
